BEIRUT, April 11 (Xinhua) -- A Syrian helicopter raided Thursday evening the outskirts of Lebanese border town of Arsal, injuring four people, a security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The source said the raid targeted an illegal trafficking route in the Ajram area and left four people injured. Earlier, local media put the casualties at five wounded.

The airstrike occurred after the Syrian air forces fired five rockets Wednesday in the same area without causing any casualties.

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on Thursday lamented the unjustified shelling that targeted Arsal, Dbabiyeh and Koshara Farm near the border.

On a related note, the source told Xinhua that clashes erupted between Syrian forces and rebels near Lebanon's eastern Bekaa, where some residents could hear sounds of rockets and heavy machine guns.

The sources added that an injured Syrian soldier died in a local hospital of his severe wounds.
