BEIRUT, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The UN Interim Force in Lebanon ( UNIFIL) stressed Tuesday that Israel should withdraw from the Lebanese side of the border village of Ghajar.

Israel's occupation of the northern part of the village is a clear violation against the UN resolution 1701, the UNIFIL said in a statement, noting that Israel should withdraw its forces from the area.

According to the statement, the UNIFIL recently rejected Israel 's intention to build a fence around the village.

The UNIFIL will work closely with the Lebanese army to enforce the UN resolution and prevent any violations by Israel, the statement added.

The UNIFIL has proposed to protect the Lebanese side of Ghajar after the withdrawal of the Israeli army. While Lebanon has approved the plan, Israel continues to procrastinate on its decision on it.

Israel occupied the northern part of the village during the 2006 war.
